Where it all began: starting our adventure on the sea.
It’s 3 a.m., and your baby won’t settle down. You’ve got fifteen tabs open, and every single one says something different. Somewhere between rocking, googling, and crying (yours, not just the baby’s), you just want one calm, honest answer. That’s exactly why we built this site.
Where It All Began
We live on a sailing around the world. A few years back, we started seriously thinking about becoming parents. So we did what most future parents do: we opened our laptops and dove into research. Within a week, we had forty browser tabs open and zero peace of mind.
Some sites promised quick fixes. Others contradicted each other completely. Meanwhile, we kept noticing the same tired, worried questions from real parents online. That’s when an idea started to take shape.
Why We Started Writing
We decided to organize everything we were learning into simple, honest guides. Not stiff medical jargon, just clear answers a tired parent could actually use. Because that’s the article we wished we’d found ourselves at 2 a.m. That’s how this site began, and it’s still what drives us today.
Fran is a dentist. Fabio flew agricultural planes before retiring early. Neither of us is a pediatrician, and we’ll never pretend otherwise. Still, we’re careful, curious researchers who care deeply about getting the details right.
Who Are Fran and Fábio?
We’re just two people living on a sailboat, chasing sunsets and baby-prep research in equal measure. We’re not doctors. However, every article here has to earn your trust before it gets published.
We check our guides against real medical sources. We link out to the World Health Organization and lean on advice from the American Academy of Pediatrics whenever it applies. According to the WHO, families make safer choices when they can access clear, reliable health information. That belief shapes everything we write.
A Little More About New Mom Choice
You deserve real answers, not guesses dressed up as facts. So every piece goes through our own editorial policy before it’s published. We’ve read hundreds of studies, guidelines, and clinical pages over the past few years, and we still double-check ourselves constantly.
That curiosity is what shaped everything about New Mom Choice today. We also link out to our own deeper guides, like our newborn care guide and our feeding and breastfeeding guide, whenever you want to go further. Curious about your own pregnancy timeline, too? Our pregnancy week-by-week guide breaks it down in plain, simple language.
Our Promise to You
- Clear information, no confusing jargon
- No guilt, no shame, no pressure
- Honest sourcing you can check yourself
- Straight talk about what we know, and what we don’t
Above all, we want you to feel a little less alone. Parenting already feels hard enough without a hundred conflicting opinions shouting over each other.
A Quick, Important Note
We’re not doctors, and nothing on this site replaces medical advice. Every baby is different, so what worked for one family might not work for yours. If something feels seriously wrong, call your pediatrician right away, or head straight to the ER. Please don’t wait on an article when it’s an emergency.
For everyday questions, though, we hope our guides genuinely help. If you’re shopping for gear too, our best baby products guide rounds up picks we actually trust.
Meet the Team
Fran is a dentist. Fábio is a retired agricultural pilot who now spends his days buried in parenting research instead. Together, they run New Mom Choice from wherever their sailboat happens to be docked that month.
Thank you for being here. We’re learning right alongside you.
